Introduction To Scrapbooking

scrapbookingScrapbooking has rapidly gained popularity over the last decade.  It is a passtime that is shared with friends and family and can create lasting memories to be passed down from generation to generation.

It not a widely known fact that what we now know as scrapbooking was actually invented by the ancient greeks.  They kept their thoughts in what they called Hyponemata which were graphical notebooks.  A notable famous scrapbooker in more recent history was Mark Twain.

Five items that suitably describe a Simple Scrapbooking project  are Finished, Format, Fast, Freedom and Framework.

The key to starting with a new Scrapbook is to embrace these five fundamentals.  A simple scrapbook is not overly complex and does not use complicated materials.  By finishing the scrapbook fast you retain interest in your project.

The key materials that you will need to get started are a Scrapbooking Album, Page Protectors, paper, card stock and adhesives.  In most cases you will want to select as many acid free materials as possible in order to protect your photographs.  Stickers and other craftable items put the finishing touch on your work.   Of course a good pair of scissors, ruler and pens are also necessary additions to your Scrapbooking Supplies.  It also makes a lot of sense to organize all of your materials and equipment

While basic materials can be found at most craft stores, you may need to go to a larger city or scour the internet to find more advanced materials such as ink stamps as you progress with your scrapbooking skills.
